Other Collections

The Catonsville Historical Society also maintains a wide variety of other interesting collections relating to Catonsville and too numerous to try and list at this time. Suffice it to say that you can find just about everything from collections of silver pieces, including a set of spoons owned by the Lurman family, to a wide array of antique furnishings and more.

One of many interesting collections that the Society maintains is this collection of various miniature paintings and patch boxes, laid out on display in this collector's glass top end table. Women used Patch boxes during the colonial era to hold 'beauty marks', which were considered quite fashionable at the time. A close-up view appears at right. The case is on display in the Townsend House.
